National Day of Dance
October 10 was set as the day of the dance in Argentina, in memory of a plane crash this day in 1971 that killed several dancers from the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
Dancers dead at that time, members of the body stable theater were Norma Fontenla, Joseph Neglia, Antonio Zambrano, Carlos Santamarina, Carlos Schiaffino, Margarita Fernandez, Martha Raspanti, Ruben and Sara Bochkovsky Estanga.
In 1972, the first anniversary of the tragedy was opened in the Plaza Lavalle, a few meters from the corner of Tucumán and Liberty, the monument evokes the dancers disappeared. The sculpture belongs to Carlos de la Cárcova and dancers representing Norma Fontenla and Joseph Neglia. The decorative fountain was designed by architect Ezequiel Cerrato.
The monument is a plaque that reads: "Over here, many times we go. We stopped to light wrap. A swim in the color of the leaves, to reconstruct, in movement and gestures, the constant wonder of creation and we want to stay here under this sky and trees.
